Well, it looks like my last redesign was in May of ’08. Time has marched on and a change had to be made. This is my ninth major redesign/rebuild since 1999. I wish I could say it will be the last, but it probably wont be.
Since 2008 I have been using an open source package called Pivot to run the site. I have decided to switch to the more popular open source package called WordPress.
It’s not peer pressure that motivates me to make the change, but rather a practical fact about open source…the more people work on a project the better. This means more bells and whistles and third parties are more likely to be accommodating to you as well. That having been said I find Pivot to be a superior product in many if not most ways and might have stuck with it if I were a developer, but I’m an artist not a programmer or a developer. Pivot combines features of a blog like WordPress with features of a CMS like Joomla very nicely, and I will always have a warm place in my heart for Pivot and those Norther European lads that helped me work with it.
Pivot has a major upgrade coming and it seemed like a good time to make the transition, so here we are.
The aesthetics of the site haven’t changed in a major way, but rather than insisting on doing my own thing I am going with a more conventional approach this time around. You should find the site a little easier to get around in and easy to use tools for adding posts to you favorite social networking sites.
With over four years of posts to migrate over it has been a challenge. I’m sure I missed something somewhere, so let me know if you see any broken links etc.
