New Logos in Gallery

By John Potter

New logos in Graphic Design Gallery

I’ve had some logos piling up that I hadn’t yet included in the gallery, so I thought now was as good a time as any to add them.

Some like the “Tech or Treat” logo to the right are more illustrations than logos depending on the intended use. The “Tech or Treat”, for instance, was to be used on T Shirts and stuff more than letterheads, and the client wanted all of that text included.

Most designs were done in Adobe Illustrator, although you will see some “by hand” drawing and a little bit of Photoshop work. Most of these logos were not published (which DOES NOT mean that they are public domain or free to use without my permission). They may reemerge in some other incantation in the future. I just didn’t want to sit on them forever because of that. If they are being seen they are doing more good than if they are archived away. I may be adding a few more in the weeks to come, so keep coming back and having a look.

Logo design for upscale men’s eco-friendly hemp clothing line

By John Potter

Final Design

Substance clothing company in Calabasas, California was looking for a logo that would represent their mission which is to educate through fashion. Their line is beginning as a men’s line, utilizing hemp in a surprisingly modern and urban chic and edgy style with the tag line “look within.” The clothing is meant for the “thinking man”, thus the use of Rodin’s sculpture as a design element.

One of the more complex design proposals

Linda and Pattye from Substance had such a clear idea of what they wanted that the process was relatively smooth. Although we kicked around several concepts one of the earliest versions ended up becoming the final.

Screen printed inside each article of clothing will be a story, fact, tidbit of information about hemp regarding its history, uses, and potential for replacing diminishing natural resources that are of particular concern in today’s dwindling options. Some shirts will also include an outside graphic related to the inside information.
