What I have Provided
These maps date back may years... from 2012 to 2014 to be specific.
These custom illustrated maps were commissioned by Burgess Yachts for their participation in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The projects demonstrate the effective use of tailored maps as a focused marketing and client communication tool for a premier exhibitor.
The first map I made for Burgess Yachts is based on the same foundational axonometric vector data I developed for the official Show Management map that year. In later years this had switched to a 3D digital model based method.
The Method Behind the Maps
You may already know that I create illustrated maps annually for all the biggest boat shows in North America, working with companies like Informa Markets and Revel Republic. For each show I build a three dimensional digital model of the venue and the surrounding area. Those models are the foundation of every map I make. I update them every year based on data from show management companies, including new dock layouts, exhibitor locations, transportation options, and available facilities.
Maps Made for One Client
The beauty of working from a 3D digital model is that I can render it from any angle and at any zoom level. That means I can create unique views tailored to a specific client's needs. If someone wants a map that focuses on their exhibit area with just enough surrounding context to orient visitors, I can do that. I can spin the model around until I find the angle that works best. That is exactly what I do for Burgess Yachts.
Strategic Utility as a Pre Event Marketing Asset
These maps exemplify the strategic use of illustrated maps for pre event engagement. While many promotional materials for upcoming events rely on generic aspirational imagery, Burgess Yachts provided clients with concrete, actionable information in a visually polished format. This approach prioritizes practical utility over vague allure, enabling clients and prospects to plan their visit with precision. By clearly illustrating where to find their team and yachts, the map fostered anticipation through clarity, establishing a tone of professionalism and meticulous preparation well before the show began.
What I Can Do for You
If you have a booth, an exhibit area, or any other featured space at one of the boat shows I map, I can provide a unique, custom illustrated map for your marketing and wayfinding needs. This is your chance to show your clients something real and useful, not just glossy photos of models pretending to have a good time.
Contact me if you are interested. I have done this work before and I would be glad to do it for you.
