Whimsical Boat Show Illustration
Artist, Illustrator: John Potter - Escape Key Graphics

This illustration is a self initiated portfolio piece created to serve clients in the yachting industry. Recognizing that boat show seasons generate urgent requests for promotional visuals, I develop speculative artwork like this to provide a practical and adaptable starting point for projects with immediate deadlines.
The scene offers a lighthearted caricature of a classic boat show atmosphere. It focuses on the social dynamic, portraying recognizable character archetypes from the enthusiastic marine gear aficionado to the stylish attendee with a perfectly groomed dog. The style is intentionally whimsical and slightly exaggerated, aiming to capture the distinctive energy and humor of the setting with a narrative touch.
The artwork was developed as a complete vector illustration in Adobe Illustrator. The process began with character studies and progressed to a full compositional sketch before the final illustration was rendered. The layered vector file was then utilized to create a companion motion graphic. This animated version introduces subtle, looping movements that bring the scene to life, with characters gesturing and environmental details like flags waving gently.
This project demonstrates a workflow tailored for fast paced industries, from initial concept through to a finalized static illustration and an animated asset. It showcases my ability to deliver engaging, ready to use visual content that can capture attention for digital promotion, event marketing, or social media.
