Graphite Sketch - Iguana
Artist: John Potter
This is a study for a painting

This drawing of an iguana was a working drawing for a painting. This drawing in graphite on paper was used to create a halftone pattern as a stage in my painting process. I wanted to shoot my own reference but picked a poor time of year to find Iguanas. This piece was to loosely accompany a painting of a scarlet macaw and I wanted the iguana to match the amount of motion in the macaw piece. This explains the heavy S curve of the body.
